My Love/Hate Relationship with Spring

Love: Watching the daffodils bloom in February.
Hate: Watching all the daffodils die because we had another freeze.

Love: The first green leaves on the trees.
Hate: The smell of Bradford Pears in bloom.  Dead fish smell = disgusting.

Love: Putting on open-toed shoes for the first time in months.
Hate: My ashy, pasty skin.

Love: Seeing flowers everywhere.
Hate: Not being able to open my eyes in the mornings because my allergies are so bad.

Love: The smell of a clean spring rain.
Hate: Tornadoes.

What do you love/hate about spring?

  1. I hate that in spring, Pittsburgh is 80* one day ans 35* the next. And allergies. And the awakening of bugs.

I love that the days are longer, playing sidewalk chalk with my kids, and the opening of sooo many seasonal farmer's markets.

  2. I love that we finally get warm temperatures! But then we get buckets of rain (COLD rain><).

I love that the mud is rich and earthy and dark! But then I step in it and it slurps up my shoe...

I love that we finally get a bit of rain! But then my rain boots decide to split in half because they haven't been used in a year.

I love that the strawberries, grapes, and other fruits are in season! But then I go on fruit overload and never want to see another banana, kiwi, grapefruit or ANYTHING HEALTHY EVER AGAIN.

I cant wait for summer ;)

  3. Amy, I forgot about the bugs. Spring/summer in Alabama means the arrival of mosquitos, wasps, and the big outside roaches. YUCK!! I love taking walks in the evenings, but I get eaten up with bug bites. :(

Reese, I can't wait for summer and all the yummy fruits and vegetables either!
